Atropos is the oldest of the Moirai, three goddesses of fate and destiny. Atropos is a daughter of Nyx, primordial goddess of the night. Atropos is the younger sister of the likes of Hemera, Aether, Hypnos, Oizys, Hesperides, and Oneiroi and the older sister of the likes of Lachesis, Clotho, Apate and Eris. Atropos, along with Clotho & Lachesis spun, measured, and cut the threads of life. Atropos is often depicted as an old crone with shears. Atropos has been featured in Hesiod's Theogony as a daughter of Erebus, personification of darkness and Nyx, primordial goddess of the night.
