DryadMorgan

The Dryad (Evelyn de Morgan)

Dryades (Δρυαδες) meaning "of the trees" are tree nymphs. Since there are many types of trees, there are many types of Dryades.


Hamadryades

The Hamadryades were eight then later nine Dryad nymphs who with the exception of Dryope were the daughters of the forest spirit Oxylos and Hamadryas.  Their names were Aigeiros, Ampelos, Balanis, Karya, Kraneia, Morea, Ptelea, Syke & Dryope.
