Meliades were nymphs of the ash tree, whose name they shared. They appeared from the drops of blood spilled when Kronos castrated Ouranos.
Meliades may also have been the same as the honey-nymphs, they nursed Zeus when he was an infant growing up on the Kretan Cave (Ida and Adrasteia).
